Getting Started

Step 1: Get a Ball

The ball is the key to this game! The ball is lightweight and slightly bigger than a volleyball.

You can hit this ball with power, or use spin to create incredible, mind-bending shots! No ball in the world spins with as much action as this one.

Hedstrom makes the best ball. It should be very light (around 100 grams), appoximately 9 inches (23 cm) in diameter with a stiff yet bouncy skin.

Step 2: Find a Court

Moonball is played indoors on a badminton court or outdoors on a pickleball court. The net height is the same as a pickleball net.

There is no "kitchen" - feel free to volley from anywhere! The only lines needed are the sidelines and endlines.

Step 3: Start Playing!

To serve the ball, you must spike the ball onto your side to bounce it over. It must bounce on the other side before the opponent returns it (similar to table tennis serving rules). You can stand anywhere to serve.

Players can hit the ball with any part of their body. Good players will use their right and left hands equally, and their feet whenever necessary.
